Suburbanite commuting is usually a good use case for EVs (if not trucks). Not super important to the existence of an electric truck if the ideal case provides enough of a market to support it.
I am notsure where the assertion there is no EV substitute for a Swift is coming from, then. (But unless there is a huge gap in efficiency, the greenest and cheapest car is the one you have.)
Equally bad? That's a big claim.
There absolutely are EVs that would do it for that price, you probably just can’t buy one in your country yet.
Guys, guys, I have the solution. You know how you can control dust by spraying water or oil? Just pop off a deepwater horizon near your undersea mine, then dump dispersants to make the oil settle on the ocean floor, clearing the sediment out on its way down and suppressing it once it's in place. Work trucks are an excellent use case, because the aero doesn’t matter at the speeds they will spend most of their time at, the distances are generally ideal, and they will almost always have somewhere they can charge at night.

Tesla is highly vertically integrated. The only EV maker that might be more so is BYD, who are also doing well. BYD aren't paying profits to a third party battery vendor, and Tesla are minimizing that, too. That might explain the margins that incumbent ICE makers aren't achieving.
