There is nothing to mourn here. It sounds like they’ll just be using the 2.5L anywhere they might have used this engine, and that’s the better option anyway in my opinion. I love the EA888 in my GTI, but there’s no denying the superiority of an extra 0.5L and that glorious five-cylinder soundtrack.
