Spend decades arming and training cops to see themselves as an occupying force in constant danger and a few minutes teaching de-escalation and this is what happens. Even well-intentioned new cops will bend after a few years in that wind.

Insofar as what the prosecutor thinks it has, even what I think I can tell from the video, whether the officer shot him by accident isn’t really in question. Make note of the fact that there’s no charge for murder, just manslaughter. Hell, I’m not sure the question is really about guilty or not guilty at this point.…
