Macy has a lot of great lines/speeches, and his kind of grim earnestness sells it perfectly. Stuff like:

The movie does nothing to mock Indian people or suggest that it would be a great idea for white Americans to dress up in Indian costumes or anything along those line.

I haven’t seen the movie in fifteen years. Those are just what I recalled off the top of my head from vague, vague memories of the movie. That’s hardly digging.

Azaria’s character, the Blue Raja, is an American pretending to be British but he’s dressed as if he is Indian. If this sounds problematic, that’s because it is.

At least give William H. Macy kudos for delivering this line absolutely deadpan serious:

The Waffler.

I have to stop. Writing bad things about Mystery Men is too easy, which I wish that wasn’t the case. I wish watching the film again revealed something new, something interesting, something fun. But it did not. Instead, I was left enraged that this film, with this level of talent, turned out as poorly as it did.

For me, what’s enjoyable about the movie is the ridiculous “superheroes” and how much they suck - a man who gets angry and doesn’t transform or anything, a guy who throws forks, and a guy with a shovel. Like, that’s the main trio and they add a guy who can fart, a guy who can become invisible when nobody is watching,…

I adore MM.

And KITT, but I always figured KITT was built using Cylon technology that Knight Industries recovered from a crashed Raider from Galactica 1980.

Her bangs tested positive and decided to self-quarantine from the rest of her hair.

I wish that was true but I feel like it’s a lot more nefarious than that.  These are the same people actively fighting against an investigation into the attempted overthrow of Democracy.
