I never get tired of RWNJ self pwnage.

Today I made an appointment for my 96-year-old grandmother to get her Covid vaccine, so the universe has been sprinkling in good news non-stop all day long.

It’s too early to get excited, but a cop turned in another cop who threatened to kill cops? Never thought I’d live to see the day when the ‘blue code of silence’ was broken. Eh, maybe there are a couple of good cops after all. (I hope I don’t regret that sentiment.)

Both of which are bald-faced lies of course.

Yes it does.  We still have a ways to go before we live up to the potential of America rather than the reality of it.

I promised myself no more CNN or MSNBC for the next 6 months.  I’m exhausted.  Even stayed up late last night to see who he pardoned.  Was back on the TV this morning to make sure the bastard got on that plane and went to FL.  I’m done with politics.  How people live this day and day out amaze me.

While the chaos and the immediacy of the pending disasters are receding, people need to maintain a reasonable level of engagement with our representational democracy. We still have to vote, volunteer and donate. We still have to lobby our various legislators. We still have to pay some attention.

My wife noted that Vice President Harris may have missed part of the oath when repeating it. Couldn’t find Google results on it yet, but if true, she can fall back on the “I was just following Obama’s lead” because apparently he had a similar issue and had to be sworn in again.

But first I had to weep through Ms. Gorman’s beautiful, heartfelt, bright, forward-looking, optimistic, kind, and incredible poem. Then I can go back to being bored.

I, for one, can’t wait. Neither can my liver. After 4 years of abuse, I feel bad about having a celebratory toast tonight, but I feel like I owe it to everyone who, for at least the next 4 years, can count on waking up, checking twitter, and not immediately losing their fucking mind.
