Boyan Slat, the person with Jaden Smith, is actually trying to clean the ocean of all the plastic particles. He’s the only person to have proposed a viable option for removing such a massive amount of debris from the ocean. His project, called the ocean cleanup, uses the passive movement of the oceans to gather the

Definitely this, I have a group of very close female friends from University, and out of the 5 of us 2 have been raped and one more has been sexually assaulted (to the point that she thought the guy was going to rape her)

Well, they are asking for more information so that they can understand the circumstances, which shows that they are doing their jobs and trying to actually come to a logical conclusion. An age limit for the justices wouldn’t make most of these supreme court cases more understandable. This is the reason we allow expert

Being jewish I find your conflation of those two, very different circumstances, offensive.

I love that now that we have a hot feminist prime minister people are actually paying attention to politics in Canada. I don’t think I even saw an article on here about Stephen Harper, haha.

You’ve never cleaned your dishwasher? I once lived in a flat with 3 male flatmates, I ended up having to clean out the filter about once a week. I stopped after I saw one of my flatmates put a plate with an entire uneaten salad into the dishwasher, be assed putting up with that.

I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with this statement; I learned that the hard way when I moved to the UK and accidentally ate Scottish oats. There are rolled oats, and Irish oats, and Scottish Oats, Steel cut oats and finally Whole Oat Groats.

They are allowed to refuse you a referral, but they have to send you to another local clinic to get the referral. Basically my GP refused my reasoning, so he made me an appointment with a local sexual health clinic instead, where I got the referral.

Uh, if you’re having a surgical abortion then please do not eat for 10 hours before the procedure. If you are put on a twilight aesthetic, or are completely put to sleep then you can vomit (because of drugs and stuff) and aspirate that vomit and die.

I had an abortion about 2 months ago now; and although abortions are completely legal where I live (UK) there are still so many hoops to jump through that it can be overwhelming. The worst part about the whole experience was having to justify the abortion to a doctor. In the UK you need to have a valid reason for

Those jean shorts remind me of something my Dad would have worn in the 90's while doing DIY.

Ugh, I’m going through this right now. I work in architecture; I’m in the middle of getting my professional qualification as an architect right now. To get your professional qualification you need to have a good range of experience. I’ve worked for one of my former professors for the past year while I’ve been working

My Grandma was on Jeopardy ages ago (and she’s a Canadian!) and said the same thing. She said he seemed busy and annoyed, because apparently they were taping a bunch of the shows back to back that day.

Ha! This reminds me so much of my own Grandma, she lived to 95. My uncle had put her in hospital the last time I went to visit her; she had mostly recovered from being sick and they were getting her ready to be moved to a new home with better care. I asked her if she was excited to see her cat and move into her new

This was me. I was such an idiot about my BC for years, all through Uni I just assumed I was infertile. Turns out I was wrong, my husband and I just found out I’m pregnant even though I have a frigging IUD. Sod’s law, sigh.

My Grandfather went through this as well, we’re Jewish and my grand parents believed in preserving life at all costs. He had Parkinson’s disease and by the time he passed away he was just trapped inside his shell of a body. It was awful to watch and since he has passed my uncle always talks about how wonderful it was

This is actually pretty scary/dangerous. I know that here in Scotland there was a case last year where a bam stole some tough man’s phone and he showed up at the bam’s house and stabbed him, then the bam took the knife out of his body and stabbed your man through the eye. All over a stolen phone. I think they both

To put £10,000 in context for Americans; whilst I was at University in Scotland I lived off of £10,000 a year.

This is good advice, however there’s something even more obvious that I think a lot of women overlook. If you get married, or have a joint account, always make sure that some of the bills that you are paying stay in your name. When my Mum got married 34 years ago, everything (mortgage, credit cards, electricity etc.)

I would love to do something like this. My Dad’s side of the family can trace their heritage way way back, and they have extensive records, but my Mum’s side is a complete mystery. Both of my maternal grandparents were jewish and escaped Poland before WWII, but were separated from most of their family in the process.
