I really like Tire Rack itself; the installers are the hard part. I’ve found that at least here in SoCal, it’s best if you can avoid the big shops. Pep Boys and the like, and high volume independent mechanics you’ll want to avoid, as they’re just not set up for Tire Rack installations. However, smaller, enthusiast

Oh, for sure. Tire Rack and my local installer know me well in my 03 530i. I’ve put 45k miles on my car in the last two years, and I’ve gone through: 1 half-used set of Continental SSRs (garbage), 1 set of Sumitomo HTR ZIIIs, 1 set of used tires/wheels (got them for a price I couldn’t pass up), and 1 set of Michelin

High mileage MY2000 S62s with no known issues except some rattle from the VANOS and a lot of carbon expulsions sell for about $3k.

And, actually, making the computers work between an LS and e39/e38 communication busses has been well documented. But yeah, the E-rod engines are the only swap candidates for cars that need to be smogged.

Oh my god, when you live in a dorm room and share a bathroom with 4 other guys, Poo Pourri is the difference between tolerable and puking...

Yeah, you can actually see the dust and skidmarks behind Hamlin as he out-braked himself for turn 11.

Same thing happened in Turn 7, where Hamlin got past Stewart. You can hear on the replay how the engine/car is shuddering as it wheel-hops (aka axle tramp).

I really like Jeff as an announcer; he’s seems to get excited about the action, and he has personal, recent, and most importantly, relevant knowledge of the drivers, crews, and their styles.

I believe that was Talledega, but yeah...

Ah, I’d never understood that when they mentioned it on Top Gear. Something new every day, I guess!

Come visit sometime! Rent a fun car, or better yet, hit up some of the folks on Oppo for a ride!

Here’s a map of my favorite big loop around LA. I take the Old Ridge Route north for a few miles from the end of Lake Hughes Road to the Templin Highway intersection. After Mussel Shoals, I enjoy a leisurely drive back to Orange County on PCH.

But as far as other roads in the SoCal area go, you need to drive CA 33 if you haven’t yet. Go west from Wrightwood (the end of Angeles Crest) on the Big Pines highway. Lake Hughes road is also a blast.

I loved the sunset picture over the Camaro’s hood, too; just fantastic.

Hold that thought for a moment. The local Azusa fires have closed this road and nearby Glendora Mountain road.

Yikes. Maybe she went to this guy: (warning: 8 minutes you won’t get back)

^ Yep. I used to have my iPhone in a mount that elevated it to the top of the center console, exposing half of it to sunlight, usually indirect. The number of times it overheated (it’s a 5s) prompted me to relocate it further down, and in the path of a passenger-side air vent.

It’s too nice for that. No rust, no body damage (except the keying), no torn up interior. But the e30 325i across the street that hasn’t moved... Or the primer-colored 240sx that’s a couple of blocks away with weeds growing around it...

Stop encouraging me! My mechanic has a Jag whose customer can’t/won’t pay the bill (transmission replacement). Mechanic now has the title. He said if I paid the bill ($2k) I can have the car. It’s been pretty badly keyed at some point, and is high-ish mileage (128k), but still - V12, man!
