I thought it sounded like he had bottomed out, which would unload the tires and cause that kind of slide. Especially with those sounds.
Well first, let's talk about the fact that your car isn't in the DMV system – and the VIN is in a format that nobody at the DMV has ever seen before. This surprised me, because I thought all VINs subscribed to roughly the same format, but it just isn't the case: European VINs do one thing, Japanese VINs do another,…
2008, Fall race. Passing under the yellow line.
Reminds me of an event a few weeks ago when I came up on an e39 M5 in light traffic. He was doing about 65 or so, perfectly reasonably on a two lane (each way) road out in the SoCal desert. Some asshat in a boosted Civic Si came up to him and did the clutch-out revving, but the M5 driver didn't so much as blink,…
I know they're not using the data from Siri to make money. The voice recordings you send to Apple are anonymized, and are usually deleted right away, except in rare cases where they may be used to improve their service. Out of any big tech company, Apple is by far the most protective of it's customer's information. At…
Name me one time when an Apple product or Apple-developed app has sold your information to another company. (Besides the Apple emails that you received because you didn't uncheck the "Receive Apple Product News") ;-)
I have to point out that the information the customer is entering is going into the customer's phone. CarPlay and Android Auto run on phones, not as standalone systems. The phone will already have a massive amount of personal information on them.
I doubt that the systems would ever drop the OEM functionality. Rather, CarPlay and Android Auto will become supplements, like Bluetooth or USB input. What does someone without a smartphone do? Do they not have a radio? There will always be some sort of default system.
Note that Tony Stewart actually escaped unharmed from this wreck; he spun the car out in to the infield to avoid another, and managed to avoid any contact whatsoever. Jimmie Johnson, behind him, was not so lucky. Too bad Stewart lost the car off turn two later that race.
I bomb around delivering pizzas in one of these. Seriously, it can do anything.
FWD, FTW!
My grandparents live about 40 miles south of Indy, and are quite racist. I lost a little faith in humanity when I learned that about 3-4 years ago. :(

Just remember to change that fluid every 60k, or you'll be spending $4k around 150,000 miles to replace the entire tranny!
As was I, but they sell quickly, and I think the e39 looks miles better, especially from the back.
Very true, though with a $10k supercharger, it can perform like one! Full list of changes for the sport package: Shadowline (flat black instead of chrome) window trim, sport steering wheel ($600 for a new one), sport seats (much better bolstering, and an adjustable thigh support), lowered suspension, tougher/sportier…
Only with the sport package! An 01 530i sport doesn't include the sport steering wheel or sport seats, and the wheel is worth its weight in gold (ok, maybe silver).
