I am a woman with narrow feet, which I guess is better than being a man with narrow feet, but you would be amazed how many women’s shoes don’t have laces. I can’t wear most flats or boots or sandals because they just flop right off. And I am a half size, and some things, like fucking rain boots, don’t come in half…

You probably know a ton more than I do then :) But, being from a preppy, New England town, they were already “huge” in the 90s. But I guess not everywhere or internationally.

I don’t have any insightful analysis about them, but I first started occasionally shopping there in the 90s, and they definitely weren’t hip. They were preppy - expensive basics. Like what the Gap was at the time, but higher quality. Cable sweaters and cardigans, button down shirts, khaki pants, etc.

I was confused, because as a parent with young kids there are no vacations, but the other option wasn’t appealing either.

It is definitely not the same thing, but my husband travels for work a lot, and it is a tradeoff. It is a pain in the ass having to do everything he normally does and I get way less sleep, but I don’t have the constant low-level tension about dividing labor.
