Maybe the real Derek isn’t a complete fucking moron.
Maybe the real Derek isn’t a complete fucking moron.
Assuming it’s a variation on a “bad taste” party (or was actually just that, but “pedophile party” sounds so much more like he might be a pedophile which is what Mr EvilClone is trying to insinuate without saying). The costume theme is costumes which are in poor taste...
Not necessarily defending it but it’s a thing
The difference between someone saying something in jest vs someone committing abuse? I assume it’s that right, because otherwise you’re being willfully ignorant to the difference between jokes and reality as to straw man some sort of leftist hypocrisy - which would make you a troll.
What's inexplicable about it? He hasn't had fresh bad deeds in the news for several years (I think), and his previous bad deeds were below most people's threshold of "never forgive this guy."
Id say this a typical troll, but she’s a bra burner as well, go fk urself lady I don’t think anyone else wants to.
Just to tangentialize for a minute, it seems like Internet rhetoric frequently goes overboard for a few reasons:
Someone in their 30s dating a 17 year old is a bad idea for all sorts of reasons, both ethically and socially. But it is in no way a symptom of pedophilia.
Thet ended up married, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say there was a genuine connection.
Yay! We found a good one!
I think it’s because 17 year old women must be allowed to choose who they want to date.
Evidently “all the times”.
I kiss you, my friend. Thanks for having an opinion worth having even though the vapid, ignorant fucks around here (GMG sites) will decry and ignore you.
Everything you say is true but why can’t I quit AV Club
This feels like the most reasonable response to all this controversy, at least to me. I was watching C.K. clips on youtube last night and it’s such a shame how everything went down because the man was so GD funny and talented. I just know with this particular article and any that has been written about celebrities…
I think his responses were lucid and very much on point. He wasn’t defending anyone’s bad behavior. He wasn’t saying that social media was somehow to blame for these comics’ downfalls. Quite the contrary - he was saying that if you have a very public fall there’s very public contrition expected.
Why? He is completely right. Americans love to build up their celebrities, tear them down, and then let them redeem themselves. The redemption is often the most artificial part of the whole process, but people love it.
I just don’t like the overreaction. People are welcome to dislike what he said, but just keep it in context. He didn’t say something horrific, so there’s no need for a BURN IN HELL YOU ARE WORSE THAN WEINSTEIN AND HITLER COMBINED-type comment like the kind many on here are leaving.
i see nothing wrong here. you’re shouting at him just for speaking?
Other than possible Russian and Iranian trolls just trying to stir the pot, why all the uproar? Seinfeld said some very mild things in an interview and that’s causing people to blow up?
Do fans really care that much about him directing though? I mean, he had a real moment, lasted about 10 years up to “They Live” and since then he has not done anything that’s had any sort of impact or life even as a thing his fans love. So I say enjoy being retired, creatively he said what he wanted to say, and over…
