So true! I also lived in Mexico for a year. It’s traditional there to get to know your neighbors, so people come by when you first move in. The American expats would slam the door in the local’s faces.
I was there for a month (Hawaii) and I wearied of tourists saying “back in the United States”.
Now my friends that visit us from below the border all think we live in Hollywood with huge pools and Lambos- but that’s a whole different story.

The outside worlds view of the USA is quite funny. We had two Brits come over to the US for their first time, and we invited them to a party at a friends house.
