Why wouldn't you? There's nothing in the franchise that's intrinsically about Bond's age. Hell, Brosnan's first and best movie was all about Bond being old.

I agree that Danny Rand is one of the few characters where race/ethnicity plays a role in the story (plus, isn't he old money?), but I don't know that it's a huge one. I'll be fine with whatever they choose.
You also see this real progression in his lyrics. They start out as these highly specific stories of larger-than-life characters. And lord, how they ramble! Pleasantly, but nonetheless. As he keeps producing, though, it's like he whitles everything down to its universal core, to the point that on "Wrecking Ball" he's…
The line, "From a tenement window a transistor blasts" is just perfect. You can picture the entire street based on those seven words.
OTOH, "realistic" dialogue is a little overrated; it's not like anyone actually talks like Mamet, Milch, Wheedon, or Sorkin, but people eat their dialogue up. "Interesting" is the key.
I really don't think it's about morals, it's just about Marvel making better movies.
I don't think you need to do that much work, frankly. Ben Grimm has like, 5 catch-phrases you have to work in (which would probably account for like, 20% of his total lines in the movie), all of which are kinda old-timey. Just make that consistent and and commit to it.
Well, no, obviously I *did* read some of it (quite a bit of it, in fact, though that would be less obvious from my initial post), otherwise I would have been unable to "drift away" from it in the first place.
As popular as the Marvel movies are, they just can't compare to the cultural force that is Star Wars.
Yeah, my inability (and it is *my* inability as much as the fault of the writer) to not see Fabletown as an extended metaphor for Israel really made me drift away from the series.
The problem with separating art from artist is, with Frank, is he seeps into his work so much.
But that thread of moral absolutism was there early on. Even in his Daredevil run, Matt's "the only honest man I've ever known" (or something), Foggy and Ben are cowards, and everyone else is owned by the Kingpin.
Lately, I've been getting more of an appreciation for artists- but really, only the ones who are a bit more "writerly" anyway, the ones who pay a lot of attention to visual themes, storytelling, layout, etc. I'm also starting to notice how important good coloring is to what I actually enjoy.
It kinda screams "backlash to the 90s" to me, like the retailers are just trying to sound smart.
"He's awesome 'cause his girlfriend is hot!" That might make his girlfriend awesome, but not him, necessarily.
"I'm going to suggest you look up Aqaman's wife Mera as well as the female DC Comics character Dolphin"
So, Aquaman is cool because two different characters are cool?
Eh, Peter David's argument is pretty weak. "He can work just as well in Gotham City as he can in the ocean"? I mean, if you're okay with cutting him off from what makes him unique, I guess. "He could use sea life to really fuck you up?" Yeah, I guess he could, but he never does.
Say whaaat? Flash is awesome. "Being really fast" is one of those primal athletic desires. Being King of Atlantis is not.
"a hard water sword and shield"
