If you fry properly it doesn’t pick up a lot of fat. I saw Jacques Pepin do a demonstration once he fried a whole chicken in a dutch oven and weighed the oil before and after. IIRC, he lost something like 10 or 15 grams of fat in the process which isn’t a lot spread out over 8 pieces of chicken.

In a day in age where one can buy toaster ovens with convection, air fryers are a waste of money.
