Yeah, I have Alaskan friends who’ve utilized the ferries. You’ve really got to plan ahead in terms of food, lodging, and schedules, but it’s about the only way you can get to see friends in many towns.

I avoid cruise ships like the plague, but the Denmark-Iceland ferry is something that I plan to build a trip around at some point.

You take the train either for efficiency or for scenery, and I’m in the camp that night trains offer neither.
