@adaminc: who DOES manage the code now? i've heard other people mention this, but must have not received the memo.

On PC I used to be a firm believer in NewsLeecher, you can get a demo from their website: [www.newsleecher.com]

Out of curiosity, what are your software suggestions for accessing "the Usenet" on OS X? I'm personally a fan of Unison from Panic.

Shit.

This is a spectacular post and I'd personally like to see more like it. I'm going to be building my first home within the next year or so and efficiency and its being self-sufficient is of highest priority to me.

I used to be a "no-look" txt'er on my old Samsung phone, the number pad was laid out where I knew exactly where I was at all times. My Razr however, which I have grown to hate is too hard to navigate. I find myself checking the txt as I type/drive.

I check my e-mail and RSS (Live Bookmarks) an unhealthily amount each day. My job doesn't keep me that busy certain days. It's very frustrating and annoying to be honest. Leads to boredom.

I've known three people who have bought laptops in the past few months that came pre-installed with Windows Vista. Within the first thirty minutes of use their reactions were all the same: "This sucks! I want XP back."

Shouldn't we all just be using VLC?

@tut: Wow. So this is going to do what Spanning Sync does without being charged a ridiculous amount for such obvious and needed application?

The real benefit to this is obviously the hibernation option. This is also a heck of a lot easier to set-up than the previous methods of enabling said laptop sleepy time.

Charter is available in our area and everyone I know who has them gets excellent bandwidth and connectivity.

Mac OS X 10.4 (and earlier?) users can also add these aliases to their ~/.profile file.
