Yeah, we run a dog daycare and we have encountered dogs that get so frustrated by the head collar, rubbing their face on everything (and everyone) in sight to get it off, that it probably isn’t the best choice. But for those dogs, one of the front connecting harnesses will almost always work.

We are big fans of the head collars like Gentle Leader. It stops the dog from pulling and for dogs with a high prey drive (or just stubbornly excited) it makes it easier to redirect their attention back to you when they see those evil squirrels:
