Corvettes have been sold in the US since 1953, the Mustang since 1964 and the Camaro since 1967. I’m thinking there just might be more of them around than Vipers.
Lots of cars these days come with dozens of speakers to pump music into passengers’ ears. But those speakers are…
That should be enough time to figure out how to do a 4 wheel burnout.
Gentlefolks, Whatthefoxsays is living proof that chivalry is not dead!
Roadmasters are the greatest! Few vehicles offer so many different levels of utility and weirdness
Reminds me of another random encounter, around the same time. On my way to work (at that same job) I saw an old lady in about her 70's. She was driving an ‘00, 01' ish Trans-Am WS6. T-top, 6 speed, blasting metal (I forget what song now). She looked like she was having the time of her life. I wanted to turn around and…
I’m surprised by how many people think exhaust wrap is only to keep surrounding area temperature down. Its main purpose is actually to keep the gasses hot inside to increase the velocity.
Basically. The ideal scenario is to get as much exhaust energy into the turbine because if it’s sent out through the cooling system or radiation it’s simply wasted. On a turbo car it’s actually more important to thermal coat the inside of the exhaust manifold than the outside. Keep that heat in the gas!
At a given bmep you’re going to have a certain EGT level, the ideal scenario is for all of that exhaust gas energy to go into the turbo. That makes for the most efficient system. So yes, you want the heat to go into the turbine.
You are correct, heat is a big source of energy for the Turbo but the metals used to make the turbine wheels can only take so much heat before they get soft and deteriorate. So it’s only for practical reasons that you want to limit the temperature, theoretically you don’t want to remove heat from exhaust before the…
No way. The turbo will get so damn hot and the car will reach heatsoak like crazy with that line of thought.
I always thought that nowadays you wanted the exhaust gases as hot as possible in the turbo
If you reverse the video, the bus is avoiding all the cars.
6.2 SRT engine....no shit. This will decimate all, after you put about ten grand into it, if we have to, overnight parts from De-troit.
I’ve heard tell that the problem is the supercharger it’s self. It’s undersized to fit that low hood line, but it’s overspun to hit the hp goals. So it’s driving the intake temps through the roof (or cylinder head) and the and cooling system can’t even..
