This line of thinking drives me up the wall. I was a nurse for ten years in locked psych. We had patients that were violent. Yet, in my old profession, we did not raise a hand to them. We de-escalated, we redirected, we disarmed. All without a weapon or military grade armor. Just me, my NACs and nurses, all in scrubs.

I met a guy on a Greyhound bus. He was very cute and we were making tentative plans to hang out at our destination but then we started talking about writing.

“Kavanaugh seems to be a good man.”

Wow. That is so much fucking worse. So, do we all need your permission to find a good reason to have sex? Have you ever watched porn? You can only enjoy it if the women in it are exploited? You can’t enjoy it if the women in them are successful from the thing everyone enjoys watching? Because God forbid they don’t

It gets even worse!!

I was expecting better. I was disappointed.

H’m. I doubt the results of any investigation matter to Republicans but this is just enough time to see the results of a few polls on the issue. Then they'll know whether they still want Kavanaugh or drop him before he sinks them in the midterms.

This is discussed over on the Splinter thread, but just for anyone who didn’t see it:

I straight up think it’s a lot of men’s fantasy to have their needs taken care of by an unwilling or manipulated participant. Even the men that claim they want women that want sex they don’t care unless the woman is enjoying sex in the way they think they should be.

It’s also possible that there is less sexual assault in the Netherlands, but that because they’re taught about consent earlier, they report it more often, and it’s taken more seriously. Or it might be defined slightly differently. I’d still rather have people know about consent than not know about it.

Because men are socialized to believe that women want sex, but for a variety of reasons, may need “convincing.” And even in these examples, the coercive sex was then followed by consensual sex, reinforcing the shitty behaviour.

Isn’t the entire point that your boss knows? That you’re disrupting something?

It’s amazing. From the language ‘you’re super special and your mom is a bitch!’ ‘I dont think you’re retarded but everybody else sure does!’ to the isolation ‘we decided that I don’t need a job, or friends of my own, just take care of Woody first last and always’ to the choice of interviewer and the fact that he was

I mean, Soon Yi had an extremely abusive childhood before Mia adopted her so I think it’s understandable that she had major issues with or without Mia. 8 of Mia’s 10 children defend Mia against these accusations; Woody Allen paid Moses to defend him once he reached adulthood and Soon Yi was groomed by Woody

To the troll above (howdy, Tim): What Mia did or didn’t do is irrelevant. Soon-Yi was a teenager. Woody was a grown man in his fifties.

Yeah, it basically seems like she went from one bad situation to another to another. This doesn’t make Mia Farrow sound very good, but it certainly doesn’t make Woody Allen sound any better for it.

We chatted about it, and I must have been impressive because he kissed me.”

Thank you. The fact that she doesn’t think anything about her statements are disturbing even after 25 years is sadly and painfully telling.

The only way I can deal with Soon Yi is assuming she’s got a monster case of PTSD-y Stockholm Syndrome. Or maybe some other psychological issue I don’t know the name of. Allen Syndrome. Something. Whatever syndrome you get when your guardian grooms you and explosively alienates you from your family and marries you and

I think Woody went after me..”
