But mostly, I like working on cars, and rescuing a vehicle that would otherwise be scrapped soon due to deferred maintenance and poorly installed mods makes me feel good inside.

Exactly my point buy the vehicle with the issue you're most comfortable fixing

so much this. i won’t necessarily seek out a modified car, but it’s a huge bonus if it already has parts you like - sometimes the total cost of the car ends up being less than the cost of a single aftermarket part, if you play your cards right. considering the fact that buying used from private sellers is a gamble

I think this is the best reason to buy an already modified car, especially if you’re going to mod it further.

This. There is a big difference between a project car with a bastard engine swap and someone who has shocks, springs, and headers on a car.

Light and taste fully modded all day.

yeah “don’t buy someone else’s project” always meant to me like don’t buy a car that was midway through an engine swap when the PO “lost interest” or anything that “ran when parked”

Problem with buying someone else’s project is they want a premium over stock, even though you should be expecting a discount. “$10,000 in parts!” means $10,000 in discount.

Were I to do it again, I would buy pre modified. I ended up doing most of the same modifications and it cost me an awful lot more to do it.

Depends on the F’ups, and how much I can knock off the price based on it. Some F’ups are easy to fix for skilled folks...when a novice would be afraid to attempt the fix.

There ought to be a differentiation between custom modifications and glorified bolt-ons. Yes, I will gladly pay pennies to the dollar for genuine KW/JRZ/Bilstein/etc. coilovers, bolt on exhaust systems and a set of $$ wheels.

If you find something that has stuff you are planning on doing yourself and looks to be done properly, this is the best bet. Mods dont increase the value so you’ll get a better deal on stuff the other guy already put on there.

You can thank me later.

After I hit the lottery, I’m going to paint one with chalkboard paint from Home Depot and then design what ever the fuck I want on it whenever the hell I want it...

It just goes to show how bad Chrome and Gold wraps, because after your comment this Lambo is actually quite appealing

I don’t see a difference.

You must be one of those “car guys” who’s only driven a few cars in his lifetime and thinks numbers on paper actually mean something. How cute.

Mustang GT first car sounds like douchebag starter kit.

Thank you my good man!!!
