You should have picked a more portable career. <shrug> It’s no different than media types whining all the jobs are only in LA and NY, and the pay sucks.

Looking at inventory, I find more dealers that don’t stock Stick Sparks (the cheapest version) than ones that have more than one. I also find that there are about 5 times as many high optioned Sparks that go for $16k+ (after rebate) than the cheap manual everything version that is just over $13k.
The 500's backseat is pretty usable. As a 6'2" adult I fit in it, though not comfortably for longer periods.
There are still plenty of places that are near enough to a city to make city money, but with a rural cost of living.
Furthermore, having less buying power isn’t necessarily an involuntary affliction. It’s largely a choice. If you choose to live in a place where it seems reasonable to pay $18 for a piece of chocolate cake at a kitschy children’s restaurant, or where $15 is lunch money then you have the buying power. But you’re…
There are all great cars and more practical, but they are also all hotted up econoboxes.
Miatas have no direct competition in the small RWD convertible department.
That is the logical comparison, but the popularity isn’t quite there yet.
Long beds are great for hauling stuff, but short beds are still pretty effective. After all, not everyone is going to be carrying stacks of 4x8, sometimes people just want to get an appliance home without a delivery fee.
For a commute, no, but going by the 95% rule(car good enough for 95% of your days) 111mi probably doesn’t hold muster. Buying a $30k car only to commute in and nothing more seems more insane than buying a lifted truck only to commute in. At least with the truck you could do more
Hard to call it an edge case at only 111 miles. Thats not even 1.5hr of driving, which, at 80, that mini isn’t getting anywhere near 120mi of range.
And therein lies the rub. Almost anything can be fun and engaging at 9/10ths... How does one make an EV engaging to drive on my morning commute at 3/10ths?
Once you drive shifter carts with a gasoline motor, you will never feel the same about run-of-the-mill carts or even electric carts.
What is an engaging EV ?
Here’s the thing though, all of those vehicles were ‘expandable’ in power and performance. This thing can get a suspension tune... and that’s it.
E92 M3 coupe only weighs 400 pounds more than a base C6, only 200 pounds more than a ZR1
Yet, you won’t see any EVs making your list, especially since even a performance EV is just an EV. Whereas, an M3 is NOT just a spiced up 3-series. Or a Subaru WRX STI is NOT just a soup’d up Impreza.
This is a car I don’t want and nobody needs.
So who says you have to stay in top gear?
