This whole thing irks me.
This whole thing irks me.
Yep. That was the vibe I got too. Stalking someone is not quite the same as being concerned about their health and safety. It’s using false concern to gain access and manipulate.
All these latest reports are kind of killing any of the mystery and intrigue that were part of the podcast. Now it all seems kinda dumb and pointless. Ah, well.
Yeah, I mean it seems sincere, but guy is an actor so who knows.
I generally agree and can’t stand political nicknames, but I give people a free pass on comment sections and personal social media posts because we should all be able to express ourselves casually somewhere.
Exactly, and he’s able to speak out about those roles now since he’s less likely to be rejected, whereas if he would’ve spoken from the beginning he wouldn’t have a career in Hollywood, unfortunately.
The basic premise they started with: that degrading personal insults get in the way of political discourse...that is a reasonable idea. But they’re just really into shutting down any other criticism of Trump with a strawman argument about someone else.
This is the biggest flaw in the logic of these so-called “Bathroom Bills” and it reveals what the intended outcomes actually are. NO ONE believes that a sign on a bathroom door will stop someone who is determined to assault another person, not even the GOP lawmakers introducing these laws. They ONLY care about…
It’s not a matter of not being bothered by it. Actors have to break into the business, and if you’re not white, there’s a good chance that LITERALLY the only opportunities available to you are demeaning. And then once you have some power and name recognition, it’s possible to speak out and try to change things. But…
Want to see what Hollywood thinks of Indian actors?
That’s the whole point. Actors of color in Hollywood are more or less required to take on those kind of degrading roles in order to get a shot at having a career. It’s not hypocrisy, it’s necessity.
Yeah. I’m guessing that if there has been an improvement, it hasn’t been huge. Remember Ashton Kutcher’s racist pop chips ad? That was FULL-ON BROWNFACE and people still insist it wasn’t racist.
If you want to see Kal Penn in something that isn’t this awful nonsense, check out THE NAMESAKE. Really good movie (and novel) about being the son of Punjabi immigrants and dealing with identity.
I feel like I have met a lot of white people who say authentic but they mean stereotypical. Like if you try to perform what feel authentic to you, they feel you are putting on an act and you have to conform to their manufactured ideas about authenticity or you are not living up to their standards.
I disagree with people all the time and no one on here has ever knee jerk reacted by calling me a white nationalist. I’m also an independent voter.
“I’m Independent, I’m Latino and I’m gay. Just quit sounding fucking dumb.”
If the left isn’t represented by these “immature” people who name-call, and you can logically come to said conclusion, why would anyone refuse to support the left over a few people who use mean words you don’t like? That’s what I don’t get.
Nope, it isn’t at all. No President or Presidential candidate was asked to release his birth certificate. Not to mention release it and then have people ask for the long form then release that and still had people who didn’t believe it. Birtherism was based on racism and xenophobia. Trump was asked to release…
I thought that’s why Republicans made “Think Tanks”
