I also cannot understand the zeal behind Star Wars, it’s FINE. Also, The Shining is hot garbage (IMHO). The book scared the crap out of me as a teen and when I got around to seeing the movie I thought it was a spoof.

Agreed. It worked because it was rare and unexpected, the exception that proved the rule. I can't fathom Tarantino style swearing working in ST.

I agree completely. I’m kind of hoping they are going to make the “failure” on Starfleet’s part, politicizing the disaster or something, it’s the only in-character way I can imagine Picard just quitting.
