That's exactly what I was saying about the Ferrari. No car is perfect, but the Model S still is an amazing car for what little experience the manufacturer actually had.

I honestly think that the biggest design obstacle for the Model S was the electrical system itself. Something that complicated does take time to perfect, especially when it's all practically run off code. The Tesla Roadster served as a good test run for the tech, I suppose.

The fires all seem to come from the engine bay with each Model S, so it's not exactly all of the car. Even Ferrari has had its fair share of fires because of excess glue in the wheel wells or wherever it was, so it's not horribly unruly for a premium car to have a fault or two needing adjustment.
