The TV special is decent—and some parts are very good—but the album Denver & the Muppets put out before the special is solid throughout. I can’t recommend the TV special unreservedly, but that Christmas album is a stone classic.

Heartily seconding A Muppet Family Christmas! By ‘87 I was in high school & thus too old/too cool for Muppets (I have since, of course, seen the error of my ways), so I didn’t see it till many years later.
On the last day before Christmas Break, I always let my students vote for a Christmas special to watch. I limit…
The fact that he then did NOT come out to visit his kid tells me that he’s maybe not Father of the Year. I have no opinion about Jamie Bell--I think the only thing I’ve ever even seen him in is “Billy Elliott”--but this bit of PR doesn’t make him look great.
Man, I *wish* I could find it “alarming”. Unfortunately, it’s all too predictable. I would probably use the word “infuriating”.
To be fair, you kinda had it coming. Questioning whether he was a “wise dating choice” doesn’t quite apply when, as she puts it, he groomed her since she was a teenager.
Right. But that he *chose* the stage name Marilyn Manson was a pretty obvious clue, is what I think hootiehoo meant.
That, and $$$. Let’s not forget that a lot of American prisons are run by for-profit companies. As long as there’s money to be made from the status quo—especially if it’s a LOT of money, which it is—change will remain extremely difficult.
Relevant: You will not be surprised to learn that the privatization of American…
Doesn’t it seem like the ONLY people who should be in prison are the dangerous ones? The punishment doesn’t even make much sense for, say, drug offenses or financial crimes (including theft), where the penalty should be literal payback.
Kanye is also, almost certainly, mentally ill. Not that that gives him a free pass for any & all shittiness, but it might explain at least some of it. Brian Warner, as far as I know, is just a monster, not a mentally ill monster.
Just seeing the premise, this felt like something we don’t really need. Now that I’ve watched the trailer, my first impression seems confirmed. Unnecessary is bad enough, but this just looks painfully unfunny. And I say this as someone who generally likes Rogen & Silverman.
Honestly, he comes off as a pretty nice guy, normal even, but yeah, his sense of humor definitely leans juvenile. To be fair, he’s done pretty well with it, so I guess plenty of people also find his schtick funny.
I think we can also assume she will rap.
I find that all of the ones we use (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, & Apple TV+) are significantly easier to navigate on my laptop than on our TV. And it’s not just the ease of a full QWERTY keyboard vs. a TV remote—the whole thing is laid out differently. This really shouldn’t be that hard to do well.
You raise an excellent point. What about them? What about their rights to a trial, just like Rittenhouse got? If they broke the law, the law should see to them—arrest them, bring charges, & try them. If they were trespassing, or breaking curfew, or damaging property, or illegally armed, or anything else, they should…
“Please tell me - why the fuck was he even there with a rifle?”
Rittenhouse drove from Illinois to Wisconsin the day before he killed two people. His gun was being kept at the house of a friend in WI. Likewise, he technically did not possess his gun illegally, because Wisonsin law allows minor to own guns as long as the barrel isn’t less than 16 inches, & his was exactly 16…
“I guess numbers that big start to lose meaning for a lot of people.”
All I could think about was how less than $500 million (with an M) is chump change to a guy who’s worth almost $200 billion (with a B), so making a big deal about how much Amazon is spending is pretty silly. Bezos probably scrounged this paltry…
“she homes in on what she believes is the actual problem”
Thank you for not saying “hones in”. Not sure when people started conflating “to hone” & “to home in”, but it bugs the shit out of me. Every. Time.

Why mention that Bruno Heller created The Mentalist when it’s much more relevant that he ALSO created Rome? Both because it’s also an HBO show & because it’s more in line with GoT in scope & scale. It kinda reads like a slight against Heller.
Maybe? Or maybe she just figured it out for herself? I mean, she’s been self-taught the whole time, right?
