I saw ‘em on the Time Machine tour, the one where they played Moving Pictures in order, in its entirety. That record came out when I was 10, just as I was starting my wee little elementary school band drumming career. I loved KISS (as a ‘70s kid, I had no choice), but Rush was on a different planet musically—Peart

Goddamn. Lots of musicians’ deaths have bummed me out, but few have hit as hard as this one. The only other such death that has brought actual tears for me was MCA.

Rambo VII: Again With The Blood?

Spartacus is crucified in the film because Spartacus was crucified in real life, 100 or so years before Jesus, along with some 6,000 of his soldiers who were captured & made an example of. The Romans didn’t invent crucifixion for Jesus—they didn’t invent it at all. There are accounts of crucifixion by the Persians,

Hang on—you think that Erik killed Nussbaum? I assumed it was Sallinger, to frame Jessica. How & when would Erik have done it, since he was with Jessica pretty much all night & into the morning? Sallinger doing it makes more logical sense, & would also help in showing him as the evil

(or did we already know that before this episode?)
I was wondering the same thing.  I can’t say I had thought at all about Costa’s home life, but I don’t remember him ever mentioning a spouse (wife or husband).  This felt like brand-new information to me.  But I liked the matter-of-fact way the show handled it.

Not sure the cop’s iciness to Jessica was because of her powers. My read on it is she knew Jessica was lying to her by claiming to be a P.I. working for the tractor company. Most people don’t like being lied to, & I would think it would be especially irksome to cops. So right out of the gate, she sees Jessica as iffy.

Yes—definitely one of the more gratifying moments in the finale. Likewise for Gendry Baratheon, Lord of Storm’s End & Samwell Tarly, Lord of Horn Hill* to be included in the council of the great houses.

* Even if he gave it up to be Grand Maester in King’s Landing in the end.

“All I hear all day long is how great Bran is this, or how wonderful Bran did that—Brandon, Brandon, BRANDON!”

Even better—we’re left to believe that Jon & Ghost are back together for good.

FWIW, I think you & I might be about the same age, or close to it. I had the Steve Austin action figure, with the bionic eye you could look through & the bionic arm you could make lift an engine block. I joined the AV Club in 2008—my moniker a reference to asking what the hell “firsties” comments were about. (I got my

Why not? I found it a quite satisfying choice. And I’m all for the non-dynastic thong, especially how well that’s worked in the past.

Yeah, there were WAY too many Unsullied—and Dothraki—still alive at the end. It’s OK, though, since their numbers/force don’t really matter now. BTW, are we to assume ALL the Unsullied sailed to Naath with Grey Worm at the end?  It was proposed that they take up some of the lands now available, so maybe some stayed in

You think so? I mean, R+L=J was true, though didn’t have the expected effect of putting Jon/Aegon VI on the throne. But as for the prophecies, I can’t think of any off the top of my head that didn’t come true.  Like with most pythlogies, HOW the prophecies come true is often not what the characters, or even the

I wonder if they knew people would be pissed by hoe Jon DIDN’T connect with Ghost after the Battle of Winterfell, knowing that that connection would be fully redeemed later.  And now we can picture Jon & Ghost living happily ever after.

I’m with you.  I love the sense of full immersion in a world, & for whatever may be its flaws, GoT the show definitely had that.  I’ll go ahead & say I am on board for whatever prequels and/or sequels they have a go at.

Like many, I have had...concerns about how Game of Thrones was wrapping up—up to & including the penultimate episode. But I have to say, I found the endings—for the overall story & for the surviving characters—very satisfying. That finale did a lot to redeem any missteps. Perfect? Nope. Best possible given how we
