I think showing that WW transforming the baby was meant to show they're not zombies? Though we really haven't spent much time with the WW to get the sense that they're a race apart. This is good, though, because they should remain mysterious—and scary—for as long as possible.

I dunno, maybe it's harder to do it on screen than on the page? In general, probably harder to be subtle on TV than in a book.
