It's funny to me that Glieberman would claim that White's criticisms are "often at war with the lockstep tendencies in our culture", when all White does is lockstep contrarianism. Some even question whether White actually watches all the movies he reviews (or at least whether he watches the whole movie).

My paternal grandparents watched it, so that's my main memory/connection. They also watched Lawrence Welk, so those two shows are inextricably linked in my mind with my dad's small-town parents. My pop-pop actually was a farmer, though he'd retired before I was born.
