Oh this guy — he’s publicly saying he’ll vote for the Orange AntiChrist, sure, but you just know between him and his ballot that he’ll be voting for Clinton so that he’ll have happy years of “investigations” and impeachment hearings to look forward to, because that’s basically all the Republicans can do as long as

I don’t take anything as a given in this awful terrible rotten election year (I won’t breathe easy until the top of the ticket is called for Clinton, despite the “she’s a lock” narrative : I trust nothing right now), but the Senate is certainly in play. I’m in a swing state and one that can turn one of our senators

There are many, many things that could form a comprehensive list, and I agree with what you say, too. :-) Um -- another thing that’s been a big deal that is mostly overlooked is media deregulation (another gift that got going under Reagan, iirc). It boggles my mind that there’s a whole generation of Americans who have

I think it really comes down to 2 things Repubs have done that completely screwed regular folks over. One, union busting. Two, shifting tax burdens from corporations and the rich to the middle and lower classes. It’s a 1-2 punch that’s broken the backs of most of us and caused almost all the money to flow upwards,

His “New Deal” for black people is probably pretty much like his “Make America Great Again” which is a thinly veiled paean to the 1950s, when men were the breadwinners, women knew their place, kids respected their elders, and all the non-whites were supporting characters willing to be ordered around and condescended

Right — they vote in lockstep against any Democratic legistlation, then make the case to the voters that at least they’re moderate because they’re not crazy.

Worse than doing nothing — they’re undermining trust in the federal govt by doing such a pisspoor job as elected officials. And that, in turn, gives them an opportunity to say “wow! the federal govt just sucks, man! it’s like we’ve been saying all these years!”

This attitude is why it’s impossible to vote for even a “good” Republican anymore. They have such contempt for the USA and such hatred for democracy and Democrats, that they simply won’t do their jobs. They haven’t done their jobs in a long, long time. I think the rot really stepped in around the time Reagan wailed

Damn liberals! The media and system conspired to keep the crowds away! It’s a plot against TRUE PATRIOTS!

Thank you so much!

I have a kinja issue, could someone please help out? A couple of days ago my notifications simply disappeared. There is no “notifications” to click upon or anything like that, is it just me? Thanks for any help & apologies if this is the wrong place or poor etiquette.

I hate to be defending Cruz, but if anyone has intimate knowledge of what being a knucklehead is like, it surely must be him.

I think VP Biden is onto something. After all, Trump spawn Donald Jr went on the record as saying that the presidency would be a step down for his father, which certainly begs the question why Trump would run in the first place, right?

Trump thinks that dead women should have more rights than live women.

Thank you for correcting my wrong assumptions. My general, personal, assumption from admittedly brief experiences in South America were of a largely male-driven, Catholic-driven society.

Preach away. I’ve learned the hard way that attempting to talk to rightwing folks about anything anymore is a lost cause. :-)

Sorry — I wasn’t implying that there is gender equality in the US. I’m a woman living in the US, so I know better. :-) I do think it’s even worse in certain other places — like much of South America — but that’s just an opinion, not backed up by hard facts.

I think there was a huge demonstration in Santiago Chile as well, also related to violence against women. It seems to be particularly acute in traditional patriarchal countries, doesn’t it? I wonder why.*

That’s so frighteningly specific. Please rethink your life choices!

I’m an old fart who remembers when tasers were introduced as a sure-fire method of reducing the use of firearms in police departments.
