Does anyone remember about 15 years ago when savings accounts were over 4%?

It depends on your time horizon. Savings account should be for any money you potentially need now (emergency fund) or within a year. 1-3 years you can start looking at CDs or T-bills. 3-7 years maybe expand to safe (municipal?) bonds. 7-10+ years is when you start talking equities/stocks.

Tax incidence is not the same as tax burden. You want “Amazon” to pay tax when in reality the burden of that tax would fall completely on their customer, read: us.
