Yeah discord is just hot garbage, its fine for smaller groups of people but once you move a game forum over to it the thing become a giant garbage pile with a horrible interface. It’s pretty much slack but instead of it being rather useful when you have a company one a games forum is just a mess, its hard to find info…

They specifically did not palette swap the models in this remake, every faction has a different look to them whereas in the original they were straight palette swaps. Real confusing comment you have here. 

The problem is not the tonal dissonance; it’s that most gamers today expect video games to have a story, which is sad imho. Advance Wars is just about strategy, just skip the dialogues... Storytelling is the cancer of movies, video games, politics, and everything these days. T_T

i really like this way of putting it. like pokemon tries to make animal fighting cute and innocent, but it also succeeds in doing so. it’s possible to not like that, but that doesnt necessarily reflect on the game that much

Is Risk a bad board game because you don’t have to read passages of harrowing war stories in between turns? You think it’s weird that the tone of the game is light-hearted, with cartoon characters, but you’d rather they discuss the horrors of war? 

Getting PTSD from playing RISK 

I’m confused not by the content of the post but by Sisi’s wildly off-base expectations from a Switch remake of an E10 rated Game Boy Advance game for children. To clarify, I think it’s just kind of silly to expect anything more from this colorful cartoony war game than what’s on the tin.

Discord serves are fine for what they are, but I really prefer the pace of forms. I tend to just never post to Discord servers I join because they either move so slow that they bore me, or they move so fast that I feel like I can’t keep up. With a forum, I feel like I can go more at my own pace.

So what are your thoughts on Splatoon? Fun candy-coated outside, awful dystopian future on the inside.

Are you seriously comparing a chat thread, like a discord or slack thread, to a forum thread that can be browsed, googled, etc? 

Message board bans happen all the time and are very easy to do.

There is nothing worse than looking for support on something and seeing on the website or whatever "for technical help join our discord". Then there are four hundred conversations going, memes, a dozen channels, and then I have to figure out how to get notified of someone responds to me but also not get a thousand…

You’re missing the obvious Luke.  While Discord has become quite popular as a way for a community to chat in real time, the kind of preservation of knowledge that you seek exists through Reddit.  THAT more than anything is why individual forums are being shut down.  

Not only that, but it’s perhaps one of the worst, most convoluted, and most confusing user interfaces of all time. It’s also a medium you never need to use in your life, ever. You miss nothing by not using it.

I agree. I recently tried going to a forum to get some information, and it pointed me towards their discord.
