I didn’t know either of them either and found it kind of weird too, like an attempt at being funny, but just coming off as awkward.

Lmao no. They are a massive step above. Could chatbots code?
I don’t know who Dunkey is, and found the whole bit vaguely weird and really off-putting. Like, it was a bit, right? I genuinely couldn’t tell. Would it have been funny to see them be just kind of briefly uncomfortable if I followed his content?
Friendly reminder that during the Hogwarts Legacy drama involving noted transphobe J.K. Rowling, Dunkey uploaded a video that could be best described as a lazy attempt at whataboutism. He stops playing Hogwarts Legacy and tries instead to play a video game that doesn’t have any controversy, only to spend the whole…
“I’m going to air [sic] on the side of caution and not list the ingredients. Anyway, here’s the tweet with the full, unedited instructions on it. Well, my conscience is clean”
Jesus, quit bitching about this movie. It was fun, harmless family entertainment from a decades old property. It deserves to make $1 billion more than fucking Avatar.
Which means we may be in horrible, terrifying reach of a world in which The Super Mario Bros. Movie makes more than a billion dollars, and, thus, ushers in a cinematic hell on earth the likes of which humanity has only rarely had to contemplate.
This take is a trash one, the author excluded a few things that the last of us and other video games don’t have, that’s vast appeal
I too like being a lazy parent.
It must be so tiring going through life trying to avoid “politics.”
Good, maybe they'll kill off the superhero craze. I've played video games but I've never read a comic book in my life and I'm not starting in middle-age.
Non Mario movies get made every day. Go watch them instead of treating this one movie as a the end of the world.
God forbid! If we start getting more video game movies, we might only get 29 combined DC and Marvel movies squeezed in each year instead of 30! Imagine the cinematic hellscape of being deprived of Blue Beetle 3: Beetle Juiced! in early 2025 because a somewhat generic but ultimately entertaining video game movie aimed…
Y’all have been whining about how the comic book movie bubble needs to pop already for like two years at AVC, this is just what that looks like.
People have been spouting that crap since Jaws. First it was Star Wars and Raiders. Then Stallone/Schwarzengger. Then Michael Bay. Then the run of musicals. Then superheroes.
So you think it would be better if the movie industry keeps making insipid, stupid, cringy and predictable superhero movies for eternity?
So, how’s that different from the flood of cheap comics-based movies in the 90s? Isn’t the whole purpose of MCU to combat that? And did it ruin the industry back then? Your logic is that “we should stop people from making bad movies so they make good movies,” but it’s not how it works, people who can’t make good…
I, for one, hope this is a reality. I can’t wait for some of my favorite videogame IP to translate to the big screen. Some will be good, some won’t be.
