“(I actually dug out my old Wii and hacked it and ripped a bunch of GC and Wii games),”

I own all the current consoles + a Steam Deck and to be honest, a) I can’t remember the last time I turned on the Switch (I think it was the demo for Cat Quest, which I ended up buying on Playstation) and b) I’m really struggling to find Steam Deck games.

The Switch has been an absolute miracle for someone like me, usually bedridden or near enough due to badly damaged spinal nerves: it can toss and turn w me and I don’t have to tether my head/neck towards a fixed spot (like a television). The last “next gen” game I played was Dragon Age Inquisition on my XB1 (now sold

I’m really sorry that you have to write up milquetoast commentaries like this as part of being a games journalist. I’d never make it in the field, I just don’t have any motivation to do the super basic, no flourishes type of article writing. Hang in there! <3

Imagine being the guy who’s single-handedly responsible for Kotaku never again getting Nintendo games to review, and still begging people to pirate Nintendo games in every damn article he writes.

You seem to be confusing “Nobody cares” with “A lot of Nintendo fans care.” Common mistake.

Don’t get me wrong, I do go back ... because of Nintendo’s exclusives

people who own steamdecks are the new crossfitters.

The deck is digital only, so it’ll never get any attention from me. I only buy physical games, because if I’m going to spend money buying a game, I actually want to OWN that game. And if you can’t resell it, you don’t own it. I know steams whole deal is digital, but that ensures people like me will never be customers.

I find it very hard to believe that Aonuma would release anything that ran in any hindered manner. Mario + Rabbids and Bayonetta, while being exclusives are still not first party games.

I wasted a few minutes of my life reading it, so I definitely paid some price for it.

It’s really not worth mentioning again. We get it. The Switch is a weaker system than all of the other current systems and runs the new Pokemon like shit, though still significantly better than you would be led to believe if Twitter and Kotaku were your only sources for news.

I keep seeing this and while Pokémon runs poorly at times, it’s in no way shape or form “running like dogshit”.

Hmm seems like you’re not as bad as you used to be when you were advocating for the use of an illegal emulator to play the new Metroid…

I have functionally no interest in most of Nintendo’s first-party lineup”

The Steam Deck is what you get if you take the only feature of the Switch I couldn’t care less about and build an entire console around it. If there was a version of the Switch that could only play in TV mode and was $1 cheaper I’d have picked that one in a heartbeat.

I hope someone is getting paid bc damn this kinda glowing coverage shouldn’t be free.

As of October, Steam has sold over 1 million Steam Decks. As of August, Nintendo has sold over 111 million Switches. Nintendo does not give a shit yet.

Kotaku’s childish insistence upon poking the pirate bear re: Nintendo is really something to see. We get it, you made decisions in life that led you to a place where you can’t make any money doing your actual job to afford the games unless a publisher sends you review codes so you passive-aggressively link to
