All I had to do to get awesome followers was level alts, and then cry. Out of the six followers my two alts have, one has 4 epics, 1 rare, and 1 uncommon, and the other has 3 epics, 2 rares, and 1 uncommon. Meanwhile I think out of the 30 followers my main has, only maybe 3 or 4 upgraded to rare/epic.
