I believe (but don't quote me!) that Blue Beetle wasn't in the show due to a conflict with the licensing rights with The Electric Company. He eventually showed up in an issue of the comic book version of the show and was paired with some gold layabout.

This might be my favorite episode they've done in years. The reveals were just kind of devastating plus Marshall got to do a Python-eqsue old lady voice.

That was really awkward product placement but it worked. Sadly, the Ho-Be-Gone Sleep System is prohibitively expensive.
