My biggest problem with the movie is one massive mistake they made with the female lead:
Sheer delight.
The reason behind the differences in the spacesuits and the color scheme is only because the viewers need a visual cue so they can immediately determine the ID of the character they are seeing, especially in the action scenes.
Ray Bradbury had a huge influence on me as a writer. If I ever make the "big time" (whatever that is and whatever that means), I will only look big as I'll be standing on the shoulders of giants, Mr. Bradbury being preeminent.

How about Dr. Benton Quest from the original Jonny Quest? The guy was incredibly intelligent in several fields, sported an awesome goatee, and even had a hitman as his assistant (Roger "Race" Bannon).
