I’ve been to a lot of these places and I think their “quality of life” metrics are skewed. Lots of those places are boring.

Early detection saves lives without a doubt but not for all. Some of those identified will never develop into life-threatening illness and the worst metastasize very early and are so aggressive that early detection just doesn’t help.
