Tucker. It was an unprecedented step in innovation from an independent maker at the time. Here was one man and a dream going up against the big 3 bullies. Not only was the car a marvel in itself (I believe GM bought one to steal ideas from) but the story too is interesting and makes one wonder what might have been.

Ouch. New engines have break in periods for a reason. Especially turbo engines.
Dammit according to lord murilee the malaise era started in 75 but ended in 83. Past that is the turbo era.
Rod i once read that they were purely stylistic and hence removed on some cars for a cleaner look. The louvers on the hood are heat extractors for the radiator though.
