It didn’t help that the majority of the comments on the Anaxar trailer were along the lines of “Now this is “real” Star Trek; not like that J.J.Abrams cr*p!” Who ever holds the copyright makes the real decisions and the real movies.
I agree with you in large part, but there’s a caveat. There have been many, many cases in which they have chosen NOT to protect their copyright, and in fact have given their blessing instead. Axanar is different only in the scale of the production.
If they are not parodying Star Trek it is not usually covered under “fair use”. Companies have no choice but to protect their rights. I am dying for a Double Decker bar but Hershey’s stopped that party in my mouth.
It’s odd that they wouldn’t have sent a C&D letter before filing suit. Doesn’t smell right.
Lucas suffers from clinical depression, and pretty much swore off directing for over two decades after the miserable experience he had making Star Wars. Let’s maybe have a little sympathy for that instead of calling him lazy?
For movies that “nobody liked” they sure made a ton of money.
I don’t get why people really think someone with no computer experience would get along just fine building their own. I had some issues with it, myself, as someone who’s tinkered with hardware upgrades and been a power user for ages. I’m a giant PC elitist but I recognize it’s totally unrealistic to expect anyone to…
Merry Christmas to you.
I did. HOUSEBOUND was a lot of fun, made on a low budget, and I didn’t recognize anyone in it.
If you’re just entering the PC Gaming world, build your own.
