I've never heard of To Kill a Mockingbird being called children's literature. Sure, adult narrator Scout is telling the story of child Scout, and sure, we often teach this book to middle And high schoolers... But Lee didn't write it for child readers, did she?
I remember learning in school that "room temperature" was 76 degrees. I know that's what I learned because I had a mnemonic device to remember it. ("212 is too hot; 32 is tres froid; 76 is just bliss." Yes, I was super awesome at 8.)
OMG, now I know why I have always thought Charlotte was North Carolina's armpit.
I never think about the talent and skill required to be a good actor until I seem someone do it very very poorly. Bless her little heart and her pretty little expressionless face.
That voice-over dude was totally rapping. Hip hop barbie!
I've watched every little episode and I cry at everyone. These shows make me truly happy and hopeful about humanity. I think everything, EVERYTHING should end with "Dance Party!"
I'm not a statistician or a risk analyst, but I think it's at least possible that it's riskier to let your 16 year old drive a car and ride in a car with other 16 year olds day in and day out than it is to allow her to carefully, thoughtfully, solo sail around the world after years of training and months of calculated…
I want to put the entire text of this post on a tshirt (front and back, neck to hips and the sleeves) and wear it 3 days a week to Target and the Harris Teeter and the Cheesecake Factory.

Always with the intelligence...
@applebrown-betty: I don't trust a study that says the sun is the center of the universe because I know the earth is! I don't trust a study that says that we evolved when I know we were designed!
I call total bullshit. This is the most racist shit I've heard in years. The family is kind in calling it "lacking in cultural sensitivity" - this is flat out nasty racism. The news is talking about it like it's a delicate situation — it's not: it's nasty ugly racism.
Please, universe, please please pleasee, if I ever get to a point in my life where I have a disposable pile of thousands and thousands of dollars, please please please let me want to use it to put solar panels on my roof or buy an electric car to replace my gas ones, or let me use it to fund some development project…
Oh, bless your heart, sweetie.
@Algren: I spent my 20's being this type of woman, as well. There were many proposals, lots of songs and paintings and poems and to the best of my knowledge, no men ever figured it out. But when I met my soulmate I viscerally knew that he would never ever respect that woman I was pretending to be, so I dropped the act…
I had a professor in grad school who was youthful, brazillian, and sooooooooooo gorgeous, with the beautiful accent and such a pretty face and beautiful skin and tall and an amazing figure. (Wow, I'm kind of crushing on her...) I always joked that no matter what she was wearing, you could see her underwear: colored…
It's because they never had days of the week panties like I did. Those little undies built responsibility, self-confidence, and discipline.
@blametheredline: I am a teacher and my comment was going to be how about instead of banning them we use them as an opportunity to teach restraint and focus. :)
