Definitely this. The part where [Spoiler]the screen becomes garbled with video artifacts as if your console is crashing, then being thrown back into a twisted version of the game's intro was a touch of genius.

It needs the modern setting, the multi-generational conspiracies, the secret societies, and the matrix-machine. Without all this, it may be a fun adventure game, but it lacks any depth.
