To be fair, everyone’s co-pay should be that much.

It is amazing how corporate propaganda has trained large swaths of Americans to look at other people’s benefits and say “that’s not fair, they should have to suffer more like everyone else!” instead of saying “that’s not fair, we should get those benefits from our giant corporate employers too!”

The economy is not a charity organization.

Or, “fuck the UAW” to be extreme in the other direction- GM paying well over the 75th percentile for semi-skilled labor, paying well more for benefits premiums than even what “good benefits”-offering companies offer, among other things.

I didn’t know I needed to read the word “jabroni” today, but I did. And it happened twice.

It’s bullshit that “Transportation” is lumped together.

I agree that increasing the tax would decrease demand. To a point. Public transit is next to non-existent in most of the US, and so people will still have to drive. Coupled with that is the fact that the general population is horrible when it comes to personal finance. I responded to facw with a bit more detail, but

I agree with basically everything you laid out; however, I do slightly disagree with your third point. Not that it wouldn’t work, but more that it might not be the best way.

$500/month total might actually be a little low for one person if their insurance is through their employer, but it is probably close for an example like this.

WHAAAAAAT??? You mean that the vast majority of people don’t get to own multiple vehicles by purpose? That’s just insane. If I wasn’t able to have my Quad hauling truck, my economy car, my boat towing rig and my church sunday van...I just don’t know what I would do! I own a truck because 2-3 times a week I have to

He said “Despite what you see in the mall parking lot”.

You don’t see many work trucks in parking lots because they’re constantly on the move... working.

It is almost as if some people can’t afford to have multiple vehicles for different purposes. Like someone who can’t afford to have a truck for work and a car for going to the mall.

Not quite - what they’re saying is UAW employees pay 3 to 4 percent of their total healthcare premiums with the automakers picking up the remaining 96-97%. So if healthcare premiums are $500 per month for a typical worker, a UAW member pays about $20 per month for healthcare coverage while the average US worker pays $1

You know Glassdoor (and just about every other site like that) works based on unverified, user-submitted data, right? It’s like Yelp, TripAdvisor, or Amazon Reviews, but for jobs... It’s skewed data.

It’s a combination of jealously, annoyance, and common sense for me. I’m jealous that unskilled labor can get such good benefits and pay without having to go through school or do anything exceptional other than staying at the same place for a long time (which isn’t that hard since they can’t fire you unless you get

Because of this

i mean, wrong.

Hey failing Jalopnik, you know what’s really in rescission? How ugly Volkswagens are! That’s was really funny, I give myself an A+ on humor there. Look, we’re gonna get a beautiful result with China. I have tremendous respect for China, and women - broads all over the world. Now watch me count from 10 to 1!
