Private education has its own bag of grotesqueries, too. Never forget: public school employees are employees of the state, which is way more transparent than private education.

It might seem that way, but in terms of (technical) text complexity and the standards students are held to (in the legislation, anyway), expectations have actually increased. The problem is that actual performance and expectations are lower in any meaningful real world sample. It’s a dissonant machine :(.
