Tesla has had over 100 million miles of user feedback using autopilot, of the most useful form—detailed telemetric reports of performance. What they don’t want is someone violating the terms of agreement and then trying to get a free replacement car after a wreck by extorting the company, which is likely the case here.

Yeah... not a good road to be using autopilot on, especially at night, and when Mr. Pang said he had the speed set at 60mph but the warning sign before where the wreck happened advised a speed of 45mph for the winding road.

I find it funny that people always call engines in cars motors and now there is car powered by a motor and the guy says engine....

*Sigh... No they are not marketing it as that and Autopilot is precisely the correct term for this sort of thing. If they were marketing it as autonomous then I’d call BS. Mercedes is literally marketing their stage 2 cruise control as autonomous and I’ve seen only one article about that. This Tesla thing is overblown.

I hope by ‘trucks’ he means autonomous shipping container chassis. IF you want to really change the world, make a shipping container chassis with built-in electric power train and guidance.

130 million miles is not exactly chump change. Yes, its a drop in the bucket compared to the total mileage driven in the US, but the OP’s premise is it is completely untrustworthy because it can’t stop 100% of accidents. That is untrue if you compare it to human drivers. At best you can say its too early to tell. But…

I don’t even see why they’d do that. Why not just give me a panoramic view where the rear view is. Why make the driver look a bunch of places when they don’t have to?

But then how the police blind you with their spotlight when they pull you over. Getting rid of mirrors is a safety hazard for LEOs!
