I think "C" is about the right grade for this episode. It was funny in spots, but not that funny overall. Compared to the best this show has done, "C" seems reasonable. That's OK, though. They don't all have to be "A's".

"On the other hand, it’s also extremely easy to make people outside the city feel like they’re on the outskirts of some aggressively cool club…"
"What Is It? Alcohol?"
"Hasheesh?"
"Has She Been Dexing?"
"Robo-Tripping?"
"Is she on the stovetop? Chicken feet?"
"Did someone turn her out?"
On TV sitcoms, no one over the age of 30 has any clue how technology works, whether it's a computer or a TV remote control or an electric can opener. Teenagers and 20-somethings, however, can sit down at a laptop and crack into NSA's database in five seconds.
Two immediate reactions I had after this episode—
"She’s a recovering alcoholic who works as a waitress, after all (though she has a surprisingly nice apartment)…"
Yeah, that entire scene was hilarious. Janney is sneaky fantastic in this role.
Oh my God, The English Patient (1996) made me want to punch somebody when I walked out of the theater. Two and a half hours of sepia-toned boredom and pretension that thinks it's being profound and sexy. Elaine Benes summed it up just right: "Come on…Give me something I can USE!"
This might be another case of a network thinking that a premise that might be OK for one episode of a sitcom should instead be the premise of a sitcom. (See: Cursed, Up All Night. On 2nd thought: don't.)
I watched every episode of this show, thinking it was going to get better, and because I have a crush on Liza Lapria. The main problem with it is that there was an expectation that you can just stick Rebel Wilson in front of the camera and everything will be hilarious. She's just not that funny. I watched a little bit…
I will also treasure "You Don't Win Friends With Salad" for the rest of my days.
Paperboy? What's that?
/*Generic snark about how I think Pitchfork is stupid and I've never heard of these bands and hipsters are dumb and I'm old*/
Old, apathetic and housebound. That's quite a portrait of yourself you've painted there.
I agree with you about the review. "Sugary" is a very good way to describe it.
Back in my day, Friday night was for high school football, Saturday was for college football, and Sunday was for the pros. Tack on an extra game on Monday night, and it was all good.
One of the appealing things about this series is the constant bouts of professional competence all the main characters are allowed to display. Hopefully that won't go away as the personalities become more defined.
I'm also really enjoying this show. I'm a Krisin Wiig fan and I think she's absolutely killing it. Toby MacGuire too. I like how understated his character is. It nicely contrasts with Wiig's over-the-top performance. I'm also a Will Farrell fan, so any time I see him I start cracking up.
While I can kinda see his overall point, Grandpa came off as a total creep to me.
I've always thought Troy looked hotter in a standard Starfleet uniform than that grey body stocking they had her in through half the series.
