I posted a comment asking people not include too many extraneous details, and someone strongly disagreed with me and said the details made them feel like the story was real and verifiable. After reading the first story, I stand by my opinion. I did not need 10 paragraphs(!) of exposition explaining how newspaper

To call this a horror movie is giving folks the wrong idea. I saw it today. It’s beautifully shot and well cast—Björn Hlynur Haraldsson is especially good. But a horror movie this is not. It’s a slice of life movie with a rather odd occurrence.

If it’s Lays then it’ll be mostly air...

This.

How about for every Gabby Petito story Jezebel publishes, you publish two stories about BIPOC women who are missing and/or murdered?

This is the most probable outcome for him unfortunately.  What his parents know and when they came to know it will be a big part of the story next.

Or didn’t vote at all, especially downballot. These governors and state houses are doing significant harm. When Roe goes, they will be the ones criminalizing abortion. One AZ whackadoo wants abortion to be punishable by death.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all to hear next that they have found Laundrie’s remains, because he went to the woods to off himself.

only a scant 20 to 30 percent believed that the landmark abortion rights decision should be overturned

The problem has never been public opinion in general. The problem, at least in my state, is that the people who want to see Roe overturned vote in every fucking election, and the Texas legislature is dominated by lawmakers who only need their votes.

I wish life didn’t reward selfish narcissists so much. From the boardroom to the stage, these types of people thrive and always manage to get ahead. I presume because there’s no line they won’t cross. I feel like this is our society’s biggest failing. We let the Trumps and Minaj’s of the world do whatever they want

What took them so long? This woman has been awful forever and this website gleefully takes down other women for far less offensive things than they gave Nicki a pass for

But I don’t think that’s a fair criticism as they are reassessing their views on Minaj based on her recent behaviour. For me, that is what this article is truly about, re-examining behavior that was considered to represent something before and now considering if it was actually signal of something else.

For me, this has been such an interesting media storm not just because of Minaj’s ncreasing insanity in handling it, but because there is still that discomfort from a lot of the media fronts to address it and how it reflects on their interpretation of her. For example, I’ve noticed that a lot of the late night hosts

A small anecdote to illustrate the subjective perception of work performed: my then-husband once said with a straight face that he did equal amounts of cooking because he “cooked all summer.” Even without taking into consideration that summer in Canada is but three golden months, what really happened was that I did

How often do the dishes need to be done versus how often does a garden shed need to be built?

I feel this so much. I envision my marriage as the two of us starting out on a boat together ready to sacrifice for each other and go on this wonderful journey. But after some floundering, he eventually says he doesn’t know how to row, and he didn’t pack the oars. So I got out and swam, pushing the boat for both of

Exactly! A) A woman should never marry a man who hasn’t lived on his own before. B) A woman should not marry a man she hasn’t lived with. C) A woman shouldn’t expect a man’s ability to take care of himself to improve after marriage.

That’s the thing. They do, but while we’re talking about equality, it’s not the same thing.

Did none of these folks do premarital counseling (pre-Cana, etc.) where they could get their expectations out in the open and start from there negotiating some agreements?
