Sam Bee said something nasty. Roseanne said something racist. These two comments are not equal or interchangeable, nor should they invoke equal consequences. This is not a difficult concept.

“I thought she was white”

The goal is to eliminate women’s choice not only in how they handle conceptions, but to eliminate choice in when and with whom they have sex. The answer given by the pro-lifers is “You don’t want to have a baby? Don’t sin with your body.”

“I personally believe that U. S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don’t have opinions and, uh, I believe that our opinions, like such as in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should—our opinions over here in the U. S. should

I can’t fault anyone for what they believe - Becca Kufrin

America, where we force you to have an unwanted child and then provide no family leave to care for that child. Brilliant.

Mitt Romney didn’t vote for Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Instead, he wrote in the name of his wife, Ann. At least he voted for a woman.

His daughter gets called a cunt and yet he is still whining about Bob Iger not having called him?

They are not the same at all. I still don’t like when women are called the c-word, but these are two entirely different levels of offensiveness.

This. Roseanne said what she said because Valerie Jarrett is black and Roseanne is racist. Samantha Bee didn’t call Ivanka a cunt because she is a woman, she called her that because she is doing cunty things, and frankly, I could see Samantha Bee easily calling a man that, too.

without resorting to gendered slurs

Exactly! A white woman calling black woman an “ape” is on a different level than one white woman calling another a “cunt”.

If you can equate Roseanne’s insult of Jarrett perfectly to Sam Bee’s insult of Ivanka — if you honestly cannot find a single difference between the two instances — I don’t think you’re approaching the issues with necessary cognitive functions.

But reparations for slavery is a crazy idea... for fuck’s sake.

As Roy Moore and the Duggars have shown, the right isn’t particularly bothered by incest or pedophilia.

Okay. Two things:

The pearl-clutching that crawls out when the alt-right seeks a tit-for-tat takedown is hilarious and sad. Their is no actual belief behind their poutrage, it is just for show.

You know, Democrats could make a campaign issue out of this. Arizona, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia - all haven’t ratified it, all are blue-to-purple. In an era where the President is an open misogynist, this would be a tremendous opportunity to codify equal rights for women into the Constitution.

There is really nothing like being reminded of your second class citizen status.
