I’m not deciding anything, I am trying to convince others to reexamine their viewpoint as theirs might get them killed.

It’s rude?! To discuss whether or not we should continue to plan an event at which an average of 3 people die every year? I’m not really worried about whether or not it is rude; people are killing themselves and we are condoning it!

I know that he knew the risks. The problem is that he chose to ignore them. We shouldn’t let people do things that risky.

Idk, I’m not a developer for Kinja

What? Lions live for a lot longer than a year.... Your analogy makes no sense. The appropriate analogy would be: Would you rather be the sheep that lives in a protected peaceful cove for a year, or the sheep that messes with the lion for the thrill of running away from him, but gets eaten the first day.

But are they....? An addiction to the high of an adrenaline rush could be considered a mental compromise.

You left out risk vs reward. Flight, steam power, and exploring oceans have incredible upsides.

That would be sweet.

He died in incredible pain regretting his choice in a hospital.

Nope, but if you decide to try to figure out why you feel the need to risk your life for the thrill of it, I’ll help you pay for a psychologist.

No one enters the military with the intent of dying either, but we all acknowledge the risks by honoring all who served, not just those that died. You offer your life for your country when you join, because it is a cause worth dying for. A memory of racing a course is not worth offering your life for.

I’m just worried that they don’t understand the value of their life, and I don’t want them to knowingly put themselves in harm’s way. It is the same as a friend warning their buddy not to try something dangerous, not to protect himself, but out of concern rooted in love for the buddy.

And there are police doing their best to keep everyone safe, engineers analyzing the traffic flows to see if they can make it safer, car companies working to make the cars safer, etc.

If someone is threatening to kill themselves, we send police to stop them, as they are clearly mentally unstable. Yet, we still let an event be organized that is incredibly deadly. No one in their right mind would ever run this race at full speed. If you are thinking about doing it, please seek help. /not sarcasm.

I am really sick of this debate.

Eminent domain is almost as rare as nuclear war. Most times big companies will pay well over market value for your home to avoid a PR disaster and only use eminent domain if you won’t budge.

Man, I want one of these....

You remind yourself that you are driving it because it is reliable and you own it, just until you aggregate your feces and can afford what you actually want.

According to Ron Swanson, Skim milk is just water that is lying about being milk

It’s really hard to make laws that both sufficiently reprimand the wealthy while not crushing the less fortunate for the same crime. If you don’t have late fees, no one would ever pay, but by having them it further punishes those that don’t have the means. The only way to do this would be to have an office that sets
