I really feel like that this is the reason Gillian Anderson wants to leave the show. She’s gotten to play Stella Gibson, this strong, capable, intelligent female protagonist, the last five years years and then she agrees to do more X-Files, where immediately she’s in a bed for most of the first episode.

Part of me thinks they might retcon the retcon as some of bluff by CSM when they air the finale. It’s such a clearly icky moment that I can’t imagine Chris Carter not wanting to back away as soon as it was committed to film.

One thing I’m looking forward to die with the last few generations is this pandering macho-cowboy shtick. David Clarke is ground zero for this bullshit to every conservative out there who thinks they’re being badasses for defending the world against basic human rights. The only difference being, Clarke had a platform

Sweet jesus, this guy is like if Ricky Smith from Better Off Dead existed in the real world, but only had self-actualization...

Holy crap, Jake Kasdan directed this? This may date me but does anyone remember when he made comedies, like Zero Effect, Orange County or The TV Set, that didn’t seem like big studio dreck?

Ranking those movies on the list is like shooting fish in the proverbial barrel...

Designated Survivor should stop trying to ape Scandal. It’s really not that good of a show...

I really wish they’d write Pam out of this show. Whenever she appears, it typifies the show’s worst tendencies.

I felt a little betrayed where The Americans ended up this season. They put too blunt a through line on many of their thematic stories this year. ‘Dyatkovo’ was great for sure, but it was frustrating waiting to give the show the benefit of the doubt.

That’s what so jarring about the show now that they’ve resolved the conspiracy plot line. I’m glad they didn’t drag it out which very well could have happened...

I had a revelation while I was watching last week’s episode that Designated Survivor, especially with whats-his-face doing the press briefing, is more-or-less The West Wing, if it were envisioned by far less talented writers than Aaron Sorkin.

I really hope whoever is “training” O’Keefe and his crack team of shit-commandos is doing in the arctic for the expressed purpose of leaving them out in the elements once their backs are turned...

Lots of moms LOVE CBS shows, mine included, quality be damned...

No, but the stories about the people were.

These idiots aren’t gonna be filming a video when they eventually go to their local Walmart to buy another Keurig to replace the one they smashed...

This show would be so much more engaging if it decided to straight up rip off The West Wing going forward. Does Designated Survivor honestly want to be Scandal? Shonda Rhimes and her soap opera shows don’t have a great cultural shelf life, besides next day watercooler stuff...

Modern Family used to be a relatable show, but when they started splurging on trips and silly extravagant things and parties, that’s when the show took a big creative nosedive. It’s the same reason why Judd Apatow movies are so unwatchable now, they’re conveying a lifestyle that’s relatable to no one but themselves.

Really though, isn’t “Selfish, manipulative characters” what this show has always been?

I’m fairly sure the mental breakdown of Holden in the finale is a reference to a similar scenario to his real-life equivalent, John Douglas, getting encephalitis when he was profiling the Green River Killer (?) back in the 80s. Coincidentally, Bryan Fuller also cribbed this incident when he planned the story arc of

I’ve never understood how people considered Tom Cruise miscast as Jack Reacher. On one side, there’s the Lee Child fans who are hung up over that Christopher McQuarrie and team didn’t actually cast a six-foot five actor, which means they don’t understand how movies are made. And in the other corner, there’s people who
