It’s good that people are finally doing this, but these all sound like good things to do even when there’s not a pandemic? You could easily be out sick for a week plus with the regular flu as well, for example. Or you could get in a car accident, etc.

Why do you think a 997.1 is an investment vehicle?

Snorts with laughter.

This M car seems destined to zero percent APR when it goes on sale.

I realize I’m preaching to the choir, but the new 8-series was just an excuse to charge more the 6-series (which was already expensive to begin with). Based on the recent reports of slow sales and how dealers feel about the car, I think it’s safe to say BMW made a mistake.

Just.....no. The performance value isn’t there. The luxury value isn’t there.  Not for 43 Large.

Don’t be such an ignorant hypocrite. Take your own advice, Ben.

I’ve HATED the look of this car ever since it came out. The proportions are horrible and ungainly and misshapen and it’s just a goddamn mess. The lights are atrocious, it can’t decide if it wants to be swoopy or upright, and somehow there’s a stubby rectangular trunk oddly grafted on to the otherwise blobby round

It’s a good question, but it needs to be asked and considered carefully. Ed showed in his comment a new onset case.

School is good for exposing kids to lots of things - not necessarily things they’ll be passionate about. Some will take shop class and learn they are handy. Many will learn they never want to touch another tool. Programming courses can be the same.

But the grinding required to raise your level truly sucks. And once you’re in the mid level tier, you can’t raise your level without taking social skill.

I wish someone had consulted with me. I have plenty of master/slave alternatives: 😉

It’s interesting that you should mention doctors - yeah, obviously if they do something like that, they will be sued into oblivion. But they also have malpractice insurance, so that if they mess up (intentionally or otherwise) the insurance company can pay off the lawsuit. Of course, as with all insurance, whenever

Its labor practices are no more or less questionable than virtually every other major business IN THE WORLD. And hey, that’s a big problem. But let’s not single Tesla out. Unlike MANY other major business, Tesla is ACTIVELY pursuing the ability to be sustainable. Pretty much everyone else is just paying lip service.

If a doctor puts you under anesthesia for an appendix removal, but decides as long as he’s in there to go ahead and remove a perfectly healthy gall-bladder and carves his initials in your lungs with a scalpel... Doctor would get sued, lose his license and possibly get arrested.

I don’t think people like going to dealerships. But they do like shopping. And I agree with them. Being able to look at, touch, and drive the car (or cars) you’re shopping for is pretty important, as long as you’re not the kind of person who just “buys the gray Camry”.

The rest of the experience, the dealership part,

That part of the dealer experience isn’t bad. The bad part is when you go to the stupid little glass office and watch numbers dance on paper and know they are trying to rip you off.
Then you go to a deeper office and the pages upon pages of legalese designed to deceive is shoveled in front of you.  And for some reason

I would hope that being smart about it would include WEARING A DAMN MASK. I don’t think any other country has turned mask-wearing into a political argument. Research is consistently showing that it is effective enough.

Really you need a showroom, not a dealership.  Sales can still be done online in conjunction with showrooms and/or dealerships.  Some people like to find the exact one and buy in person, other people want a basic idea then order their specific one online.  There is room for both

Just be smart about it.
