I have many times cursed my Mustang mail slot trunk opening with all that room inside I can’t get to. Really shoulda been a hatch.

my guess as to the reason they do it this way is for fuel economy/aerodynamics and reducing CdA (drag). even though a hatchback, sedan, and a liftback have the same frontal surface Area (A), a hatchback would likely have a higher Cd than a liftback (as seen above). infact we may be seeing more liftbacks in the

Yes, I agree. I think if you’re in the 2-door sized car market a hatch adds a lot to cars that aren’t typically built with much utility in mind

I’m kinda the opposite. I don’t like fastbacks that are not a hatchback. You end up with a trunk with a tiny opening. At least with the hatchback, you can fit the larger stuff into the space and with fold-down seats you can still fit quite a bit.

Can’t have a ‘boxy’ wagon because of air resistance, but EV pick-ups are continuing with the brick wall aerodynamic styling of flat front ends higher than my current Sportwagen’s roofline. Okay.

Hey, look! A speedometer that’s not crammed onto a central screen!

the best thing about Vanishing Point is the 2 albums by Primal Scream that it inspired. . . .especially echo dek:

I see the intolerant cult of manual transmission is thriving. No Koolaid for me.

You know what? Good for you. Good for you for being brave and telling people your secret. Good for trying to learn.

my dad was a car guy who hated driving stick, and my mom just never cared. I grew up in the "most cars are automatic" era, so I never really had a reason!

Have loved these since their debut, never understood the aversion. They seem due to boom

He should at least consider this.

Maybe they can rename the Dodge Charged

The point is that a motorcycle or a sports car doesn’t take a direct toll on the rest of society. Trucks, statistically, do. The increased pedestrian fatalities and increased emissions speak to that.
